Salmon Rocks Boat Ramp, also known as the Cape Conran boat ramp, has never been better thanks to major upgrades completed by the Victorian Government in 2023. Set in the breathtaking Cape Conran Coastal Park, this revamped launch site makes it easier than ever to get out on the water in stunning East Gippsland.

The improvements include a brand-new two-lane concrete ramp, an extended jetty, and a larger turning apron, making launching and retrieving boats much smoother. The longer jetty now provides more room to tie up, whether you’re heading out for a fishing adventure or wrapping up a day on the water. The expanded concrete apron also gives boaters extra space to maneuver their trailers, making it far more convenient when backing down to launch or retrieve a boat.

While launching at this ramp can seem intimidating due to the large waves that often crash against it, the improvements make it an easy and reliable spot to set off. The strengthened retaining wall adds more stability, and a previously hazardous offshore rock area will soon be clearly marked, improving navigation for boaters.

Beyond being a great boat launch, Cape Conran is a spectacular location, both for its natural beauty and incredible offshore fishing opportunities. The surrounding landscape, with its striking rock formations, holds deep environmental and Aboriginal cultural significance, adding to the area’s charm and history. Just a short walk from the ramp, visitors can enjoy the sandy beach, where they can wade in the water, swim, or explore the shoreline, spotting stingrays, starfish, and other marine life. Anglers can also take advantage of the rocky outcrops nearby, which provide excellent fishing spots with fantastic views.

Parking is hassle-free, with plenty of space for cars and trailers, and a restroom is conveniently located just a few metres up the road from the left of the ramp.
