The Fishery Creek boat ramp on Johnson
Drive in Ballina (right under the Fishery Creek bridge) is a well-designed
dual-lane concrete ramp with pontoons on both sides. It’s a great spot for
launching small to medium-sized boats thanks to its deep water and protected
location, keeping it safe from tides, currents, and wind. Solo boaters will
especially appreciate how easy it is to launch and retrieve here. Plus, there’s
a spacious rigging area to get your boat set up hassle-free.
Parking is ample, but don’t be surprised if
it fills up quickly since this ramp is a favourite among local anglers and
boaters. Many use it as a gateway to North Creek Canal, which leads to the
Richmond River and out to the ocean.
Convenience is key at Fishery Creek, with a
wash-down point for cleaning boats and a fish-cleaning station nearby. Just
keep an eye out for hungry pelicans and seagulls; they are just waiting for the
opportunity to snag an easy meal! There’s also a toilet just a short walk from
the ramp for added convenience.
